Club Standards - Your Opportunity for Leadership

Toastmasters International (TI) has researched the ingredients that make the difference between a good club and a great club, and they have identified 10 key factors. I am going to share these with you in a series of Tips of the Week, with a particular focus on how every member contributes to Gilbert Toastmasters success.

Standard 2: Club officers are effective.

• Officers are trained in their roles. Toastmasters Leadership Institute (TLI) is held every 6 months, which provides the basic training for your club officers. In addition, members who have previously held offices generously provide ongoing mentoring to new officers.
• Officers fulfill their responsibilities. TI provides a manual with clearly delineated expectations for each officer. If you are interested in learning more, you can download and read the manuals here. All officers are expected to train their replacements. In addition, several of the officers are expected to have committees to help them accomplish their work. The committees that each club should have are the Executive Committee (under direction of the President and composed of all club officers), the Education Committee (under the direction of the Vice President of Education), the Public Relations Committee (under the direction of the Vice President of PR), the Membership Committee (under the direction of the Vice President of Membership), and the Social and Reception Committee (under the direction of the Sergeant-at-Arms).
